Duke of Edinburgh Award – Expeditions

Would you like to be able to offer The Duke of Edinburgh Award to your Company Section?

The Award has been available for nearly fifty years and is thus recognised by most people as a worthwhile achievement. Maybe your boys and girls would like to take up the challenge, and add it to their CVs.

You are probably ok with most elements of D of E, as they fit in with the regular BB awards programme, but you are put off by the responsibility of organising and supervising Expedition element of the award.

Chris is on the left of the picture The Battalion is currently in the position of being able to run this part for you due to having: -

The services of Chris Phillips who is a teacher by profession and fully qualified to lead expeditions.
The support of officers within the battalion who are now experienced in helping Chris to run expeditions. They also assist with the training and supervision and are prepared to share with Chris the responsibility for your boys and girls when they are taking part.
Access to tents, rucksacks, maps and compasses for loan to your boys and girls.
Training funds available to meet the costs of companies taking part.

So if one or more of your boys/girls is interested then please let me know. All you have to do is to arrange deliver them and collect them. In between they will be in our care. This does not mean that you are excluded; all assistance is most welcome but we do not want your Company Section to miss out because you are not always available to assist.

Training Day/Weekend 29/30 March 2008
Bronze/Silver Practice Expedition 3-5th May 2008
The Bronze/Silver Qualifying Expedition Sat 5th July to Monday 7th July 2008.
